General Staff Info

Bird River Bible Camp - A Team Ministry

At Bird River Bible Camp, our staff is developed as a team and every position is as important as the next. Just as the Christians in the church in the New Testament, every position is a part of the body of camp and vitally important to a properly functioning camp. Every position at camp reverts to one main goal, 'To minister to the campers through presenting the gospel in a real way through a memorable outdoor adventure.'

Counseling - Loving and caring for the campers through front-line ministry; building relationships, sharing Christ's message, loving the campers the way God would have us. Also, looking out for the emotional, spiritual, and physical well being of fellow staff.

Operations - Caring for the physical operations of camp to facilitate the effective ministry required to fulfill the camp objectives and to ultimately care for the campers.

Program - Creating an incredible adventure that will allow each camper to explore God's creation and His message, the Gospel while maintaining safety that will create an environment for the counselors to minister effectively.

Administration - Keeping everything moving as smoothly as possible as well as providing essential support in many aspects of the camping program.

Information For Foreign Staff

  • Here at Bird River, we are excited at the opportunity to be able to offer this unique ministry opportunity to potential staff from other countries. As of May 2002, this became much easier. For many countries including the U.S.A. and the United Kingdom, no medical examination is required but only an Employment Authorization which we obtain from the Canada Human Resources Department. Applicants from countries where a medical examination is still required should apply no later than April 1. The applicant will not be permitted to work for pay or attend school while in Canada. Due to this limitation, all foreign staff must be on a volunteer basis; however, reimbursement for travel is permitted and may apply to you. Room and Board will also be provided free of charge and arrangements will be made for transportation to and from the airport if needed.
  • We love to see staff from other countries as they give something special to the summer staff and provide a unique experience for our campers.

Fundraising Options

The Head Male, Female, Maintenance and Life-guarding positions are considered volunteer but a stipend amount is guaranteed for the volunteer in lieu of a salary. The staff in the other volunteer positions are eligible to participate in a rigorous fundraising program initiated through the Bird River Bible Camp Office. The sooner the staff person starts this program the more successful it will be.

Camp Staff who are eligible for the fundraising program and are over 18, committed for the entire summer and enrolled in post-secondary education may be eligible for a $400 bursary made directly to your educational institution. Please contact the office for more information on this bursary.

All donations must be made out to Bird River Bible Camp in order to be tax receipted.
